Diane Steinmetz graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BS in art education and has a MA in art therapy from University of Illinois Chicago. After practicing art therapy for several years at the University of Chicago children’s hospital, Diane and a partner founded an art consultation firm, and for 10 years placed artwork with corporations, law offices, and hospitals. Once Diane’s second daughter was born, she sold her half of the business to her partner and began teaching preschool while raising her two girls. As her daughters became more independent and everyone’s needs shifted, Diane went to makeup school. She had always loved how great a new lipstick made her feel, and loved helping friends and family with makeup selection as well. After the first day of makeup school, Diane called her husband of 33 years and said, “I’ve found my calling!” It was the best blend of all of her background training she could ever hope for. 

A few years later DS Cosmetics was born. Diane has curated a makeup inventory that is easy to use and can match all skin types and tones. She loves working behind the scenes for special occasions and headshots, but her true passion is providing makeup lessons for every day.
